Arthritis is a disorder which causes stiffness, pain and swelling around or in the joints. It is caused by disease, infection, genetic anomalies and other factors. The inflamed joint causes stiffness, pain and swelling in the joint itself and to other surrounding tissues. Arthritis pain and inflammation for most people cannot be avoided as the body ages. Generally, people over the age 50 show some of the signs of arthritis because the joint naturally degrades over time. Arthritis is one of the causes of immobility among people over the age of 50. Arthritis cannot be cured and is a long term disease that can only be managed by treating its symptoms.
