Inflammatory Arthritis

Overview of inflammatory arthritis

Technically, arthritis refers to any inflammation of the joints which is painful. But in general the term is used for practically all the problems of the joints. On the other hand, inflammatory arthritis refers to the joint conditions involving the immune system as well as inflammation. For instance, in osteoarthritis the inflammation will emerge due to wearing out of the articular cartilages at the ends of the bones.
In rheumatoid arthritis, the lining of the joint becomes inflamed as a component of the systemic disease. Stiffness and pain due to inflammatory arthritis will usually arise first thing in the morning and also sitting still for some time. This sets it apart from degenerative arthritis wherein the pain will worsen at the end of the day and during activity.

How will inflammatory arthritis develop? Many types of inflammatory arthritis are considered to be autoimmune disorders. The body will view its own tissues as foreign and will react with inflammation. Autoimmune conditions are lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease and Reiter’s syndrome. Inflammatory arthritis may also be the result of some kinds of bacteria just like reactive arthritis or by the deposits of crystalline structures within the joints such as in the case of gout and pseudogout. In the case of gout or pseudogout, the body is incapable of eliminating adequate amounts of the crystalline structures because of metabolic defects which will occur with age. As a consequence, the excess waste product is being deposited within the joints which will usually occur in the knee and big toe and in infrequently in the spine.
What do you think are symptoms of inflammatory arthritis? The typical symptoms of inflammatory arthritis include pain and swelling of one or more joints that could be warmer when compared with other joints. The very common and frequently the very first symptom would be joint stiffness which will be experienced when getting up in the morning or after sitting still for some time. These symptoms can first appear following a minor illness like a sore throat or a cold, or these can even be associated with an emotional stress period in the case of bereavement. Patients who are suffering from inflammatory arthritis will typically have complaints in multiple joints not like a person with stenosis or degenerative disc disease in which back pain in the sole or primary complaint.

Standard medical treatments can be helpful in the relief of symptoms caused by inflammatory arthritis. However, these will not address the root cause of the problem. In general, the reasons why the body will produce antibodies against itself will be determined if a person undergoes a comprehensive testing of natural medicine. Several of these reasons are chemical, inhalants, various infections and sensitivities or allergies to foods.
